20 Miler- Sunday, November 13th

20 Miles today. good long run.. longest distance I have to run in the training program.
Officially 3 weeks out from race day. It was a wet, soggy run.. it started snowing.. then turned to rain at mile 2.. so had to run 18 mores miles with wet shoes, wet coat, wet head, soggy everything. Blisters started forming on the inside arches of both feed at mile 8, ouch-
due to wet sock, wet shoe syndrome.. haha
got thru it- ditched a wet coat at mile 10 and replaced with a funny poncho with Mickey Mouse on it- but it did the trick- kept me dry underneath - and made me look like a large french fry running down the road. Hey, it was funny enough to make me laugh.
33 degrees - cold... but it's over. Next weekend- only 13 miles - piece of cake after today. ha ha
took over 4 hours to complete- would have been faster- had it not been for wet, cold body
and sorely blistered feet.

16 MILES *** SUNDAY, OCT. 30TH

16 MILES- LONG RUN. YEAH, I THINK THAT QUALIFIES AS LONG RUN.
LEFT CAR AT 9:44AM AND FINISHED AT 12:52PM.. SO NOT BAD TIMING. GREAT WEATHER- HIGH 40'S WITH SUNSHINE AND BLUE SKIES.- SPORTED THE SUN SCREEN AND LONG SLEEVED SLC MARATHON TSHIRT. NO ISSUES- JUST ME, THE ROAD AND THE TUNES. THE ROUTE WAS 4 OUT TO THE EAST , 4 BACK.. THEN 4 WEST
AND 4 BACK. LAST 2 MILES- HAD A HILL- BUT PUSHED THRU- MADE IT TO THE TOP.
SUCCESSFUL LONG RUN. TRIED JULIE'S SUGGESTION WITH THE JOLLY RANCHERS.
WORKED GOOD- BUT TEETH HURT NOW.. HAHA- REST NOW UNTIL WEDNESDAY.

Wednesday, Oct. 26th- 7 MILer

7 Miles today. Got up early- should have gotten out of bed sooner- but got it done anyway.
legs sore and tired from long run on Sunday- took it easy.
Batteries died at mile 3, bummer. 4 remaining with no tunes- getting used to having the tunes
to keep me moving. Note to self- get batteries.

Sunday, Oct. 23rd- 12 MILES LONG RUN

12 MILES. The body remembers how 12 miles feels- once you get past say mile 9.
You realize that you don't really control the movement or the body after mile 9- it just goes.
It just goes with hopes that you (the crazy brain that set out to conquer 12 miles today)
will somehow we happy and content for a day or two - once you return to the car.
It was a long slow run. Started at 9:40ish and finished at about 11:50am.
Set out water and goo.. on the course.. at mile 6. A car ran it over.. or maybe a bird took a tossle with it- not sure.. had to suck the goo.. in between the pieces of gravel that were "one" with the goo packet. Lovely. But did it. Done. Tommorrow- Rest day. Thank heavens.

Friday, Oct.21st 3.75 miler

What a way to spend your time on a Friday.. than out there running... haha
Download the happenings from the week and get ready for the weekend- perfect.
Just a quick 3.75 miler today- legs sore- a little slower pace- but got it done.
Just getting ready for the weekend long run.

Wednesday, Oct. 19th- wow, I can run!

8 Miles today- 4 out and back.
was on a time limit- so had to push it the whole time
felt good until after mile 6. It's weird how the body adapts and goes right back at it
again- as if there has been no time off. I'm back on the pavement- and feeling good.
It really is dark at 6am now. :) Today started 6:25am- ended 8:05- 44 degree start
54 degree finish.

Tuesday, Oct. 18th- Back on the pavement

3 Miles today-
after 3 weeks off- this was an easy 3 miler. Out and back from the gym-
6:30am- It was an amazing run.. moon had just had a lunar eclipse
(missed the eclipse)- but it was high overhead- and very bright.
It was pitch dark - besides the light beams from the moon. Amazingly inspiring!
7 weeks till Vegas Marathon- have to get in gear- or won't make it for the race.

Long Run and More

Saturday Long Run of 5.5 miles- at sea level in good ol'
Olympia. Prior to the run on the old Chehalis - Western Trail I did
2+ mile hike at Tolmie State Park. Knees hurting and legs, shins and
calves very tight.

Monday
3 miler- got dropped off out in Lacey 3 miles from Sarah's house. Again, feeling good
in the lung department- running at sea level.

Tuesday
Rest day. Give the knees a break.

Week 3 Day 3rd & 4th

Rest or Cross training Day.
Went on 1hr :20min hike along the Wasatch Mountains above Layton, Fruit Heights area.
Took Sammy with me and she enjoyed the freedom of hiking off of her leash for 3/4 of the hike. Not sure on mileage. Trail appears to be a good running trail- lots of hills. will need trail running shoes.
Reversed a run day with a rest day- due to not feeling well today (Thursday). Running Friday A.M. instead.

Week 3 Day 2

5:35am the alarm rings- up and out of bed for 6am Pilates class.

5 mile run today on base. New route- 2.5 miles out and back- felt good.
Big hill at the beginning- for the better part of a mile and then mostly flat. Traffic was heavy
but manageable. Foot didn't bother me as much today- made sure shoe strings were loose at
front of foot- may have helped. Still wearing the new running socks.
Loved this route coming back to the car- down hill at the end- a beautiful thing.

Week 3, Day 1

It was a slow and easy 3 miler today. Cortney joined me for the run. Right foot went numb again at around mile #2. Still not sure what's causing it- I've checked my shoes to make sure they're not tied too tightly and changed socks - still numbness at mile #2.
I just push thru.. running on a numb foot.
Saturday was my first 5 miler in the training program. Night time run. Felt good- aside from numb foot.
